Proper Etiquette for Those in Customer Service by: John Mondeng A waiver-this is only for fun and we should not practice such principles, a good customer service person would never apply these tips!!!!!! 1. Ask the caller "Are you finished yet?" --Sometimes people get long winded and want to go on and on. Stop them! They are wasting your time. 2. If you are not sure of an answer, disconnect the caller. People don't like wrong answers and it can be too much work to get the right answer. 3. Never give your real name. Sometimes people will write your name down and they may want to start depending on you to help you out with other things that you shouldn't have too. Use an ex-employee's name if in question. 4. If the caller is upset remind them "Hey I have problems too" it puts them at ease and teaches the caller that the world does not revolve around them. 6. If you feel stressed when you have too many incoming calls; Stop, take a deep breath, go across the street, take a shot of tequilla, then return back to work; this will invogarate you and put you back in a relaxed mode. 7. Make a heavy sighing noise to show the caller that you really have lost interest a long time ago and need to answer the next call. 8. Never eat food while on the phone with a customer, put them on hold until you have finished, then walk to the bathroom, wash your hands and stroll leisurely back to the phone. 9. Do Not offer final assistance, you may have to do more work than you want to. 10. Thank the caller for calling and tell them to have a nice day.
